Casting out is not merely a New Testament story; it is a present-tense authority given to every believer who dares to use the name of Jesus. Whatever spirit has attached itself to your emotions, your habits, your relationships, or your mind has no legal right to remain once you rise and command it to go. This is not a suggestion; it is a sign that follows those who believe.
Many believers pray about a demonic spirit as though asking God to please, someday, remove it, but Jesus never framed deliverance as a request. He framed it as an exercise of delegated authority: in my name shall they cast out devils. That authority was not given only to the twelve disciples; Mark records it as a sign that would follow all who believe, across every generation.
This month, take inventory honestly before God. Is there a spirit of anger that keeps erupting despite your best efforts? A spirit of lust that keeps returning after every resolution? A spirit of fear that paralyses you at the edge of every opportunity?
These are not simply personality traits to manage; some are spiritual oppressions to be cast out. The name of Jesus is not a formula; it is the authority of the risen Christ operating through your mouth when you speak in faith.
Do not negotiate with what God has already given you power over. Speak directly; “In the name of Jesus, I command this spirit to leave”. Follow it with worship, with the Word, and with a decision to walk in the opposite spirit. Deliverance is not the end of the fight; it is the beginning of a Spirit-filled walk.
