God wants us to bear fruits. God called us to bear fruits and nothing more or less. Our Lord Jesus Christ is clear on this point that we are chosen to go and bear fruits.
Text
[John 15:16 KJV] “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you”.Discussion
God wants us to be fruitful; to bear fruits that are profitable to them by whom we are tilled.Hebrews 6:7-8 teaches that… “the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: [8] But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned”.The will of God for you, is for you to bear fruits that is profitable to those of us who work on you as a field. If I pastor you, and your prosperity fights my ministry, what profit do I have? Your prosperity must inspire others to obey what I teach. Your properity should not fight what I am building. You must be a good example to others as you prosper. This is the secret to prosperity.It’s important to understand that there are three types of fruits that God expect from us;
- The fruits of the word,
- The fruit of the Spirit, and
- Fruits after your kind.
It is important to remember the importance of bearing fruits.
There are many important reasons why fruit bearing trees must bear fruits.Firstly, Fruits contain the seeds for propagation. A fruit bearing plant that does not bear fruits will soon be extinct. You are either bearing fruits or you are on your way out. You are either bearing fruits or you are dying. So, every fruit bearing plant must bear fruits to survive.Secondly, fruits protect the seed; it is important to remember that the fruits contain the seeds. Without fruits, there is nothing to protect the seeds. That is why most plants that produce fruits which are technically seeds, have hard testa (shell) like coconuts.Thirdly, fruits are an incentive for agents of propagation. No man will help propagate a fruit that is of no economic importance to him or her. Even squirrels come around and help propagate seeds because there is something to eat (See Hebrews 6:4-6)Also, remember that there are five key stages to fruiting
There are 4 stages to fruiting according to Mark 4. These are germination, rooting, blossoming, and fruiting. However, according to John 15, there is a fifth stage in fruiting and that is the stage of more fruitsThere are certain key factors that leads to fruitfulness:- Understanding and faith,
- Further hearing and conviction,
- Digging around and dunging,
- Honesty and patience,
- Pruning.
