It very easy to carry on with the business of your life as usual.  You could easily accept that this is how it has always been, but there comes a time when you must assess your input against output, and determine to break routine and advance.

The life of Jabez reveals and teaches the important truth to effecting such a change. He could have been offended that his life was not advancing. I hope you remember Cain; he was offended because his brother Abel had more fruits and success with his thanksgiving. He ended up becoming the first murderer because he did not know how to handle his lean seasons.

Offense mostly results from pride; often we are proud of how learned we are, or how beautiful we look, how resourced we are, or how advantaged we are; but Jabez did not give in to this popular deception.

There are two things Jabez understood and exemplified. Firstly, he did not lean on his own understanding nor on the arm of flesh.  Secondly, he knew that a man can receive nothing except it’s given to him from above.

These are important lessons to apply to everyday life. I will however share 7 important secrets to breaking routine and advancing:

1. Mindset: have the mindset of a champion.
2. Strategy: you must receive wisdom to put you ahead
3. Tactics: think step; whatever you do must lead somewhere.
4. Blessing: this is the weight of God’s glory that compensates for what you lack
5. Enlargements: these are breaks and open doors to large rooms
6. Presence: the presence of God; the mighty invisible but tangible hand of God; the fourth man in the fire.
7. Protection: deliverance and protection from evil that hurt.

As Jabez prayed and received his request, you shall spend time daily praying and by the grace of God you will break every routine and advance.

Today’s prayer

Dear God, Please help me to incline all of my weight on Your Son Jesus. Help me to trust You with all my heart, knowing that my days and moments matter to You, in Jesus’ name!
