Hosea 9:13 KJV — “Ephraim, as I saw Tyrus, is planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer.“
Many people that were destined to be great ended up as failure because they fell in the snare that took Ephraim. Let us beware of the pitfalls of Ephraim. Ephraim failed because of three things, though he was planted in a pleasant place.
Ephraim failed because
- He was joined to idols (and was so proud and drunk that God decreed that no one should advise him) Sometimes, you can be cursed because of your pride, that no man can advise you. Hosea 4:17-19
- He was mixed with the people. Be careful of who you mix with. Your association can reinforce you and also sap energy from your life. (Hosea 7:8-11 KJV [8] Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned. [9] Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yefa, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not. [10] And the pride of Israel testifieth to his face: and they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this. [11] Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.)
- Ephraim dealt treacherously with the Lord. (Hosea 5:4-7 KJV [4] They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God: for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they have not known the LORD. [5] And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity; Judah also shall fall with them. [6] They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the LORD; but they shall not find him; he hath withdrawn himself from them. [7] They have dealt treacherously against the LORD: for they have begotten strange children: now shall a month devour them with their portions.)
Prophetic prayer
- Pray that God will always help your counselors to have a word for you. Pray that God will not leave you alone. Hosea 4: 17-19
- Pray for the humility to receive counsel and be wise enough to escape destruction.
- Pray for the Heavenly wisdom to settle disputes and division and disappointment in family, business, ministry.
- Pray for the grace to maintain fellowship, and loyalty, and humility even when things begin to get better for you.
