1 Corinthians 14:13-19 KJV — Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret. [14] For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
[15] What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. [16] Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?
[17] For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified. [18] I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all: [19] yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
One of the greatest secrets to step into deeper dimensions of the Spirit is to pray and speak in the Spirit. The art of speaking and praying in tongues is the one step that brings us into the unseen realms of the Spirit. There is a dimension of life that is invisible to the physical senses; one of the effective way to access this realm is to pray and speak in the spirit!
I exhort that we pray and speak in tongues more often and for longer hours to build spiritual power and influence in the realms of the Spirit.
It’s important to understand that there is a slight difference between speaking in the spirit and praying in the spirit.
When we speak in the spirit, we speak for comfort and for godly edification; therefore, he that speaks in the spirit must pray that he may interpret. Because we are speaking for godly edification, others must understand what we said to be able to give thanks at the blessing. I exhort that when we speak and pray in the spirit in a public gathering; we should also strive to pray and speak with understanding also! This helps our hearers to understand and flow with us.
However, when we pray or speak in the spirit in private, there is no need to interpret because we are praying for personal godly edification. The Bible says, when we speak and pray in an unknown tongue, we edify ourselves!
I pray that you will step into deeper dimensions of the Spirit as you spend time with the Father in prayer and quiet times! May you have encounters that will transform and impact your life! May you never grope in darkness anymore! May God open your eyes and help you see things more deeply.
Stay blessed
