Genesis 4:9 KJV — And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?
One of the key expectations the Lord has of everyone of us is to be our brother’s keeper. We have a duty of care towards one another and we must strive to live up to that expectation.
One day a man called Cain killed his brother because Abel, his brother’s sacrifice was honoured by God. These were the first two men that were born, by our first parents, Adam and Eve.
After Cain killed his brother, the first question God asked him was, where is your brother? I know you are not planning to kill your brother, but as children of God, we must care for one another. We must pray for one another, reach out to one another, invite others to Christ and to the church. We are God’s agents on the earth. We represent God and must care for our brethren.
If you have not seen a brother or a sister in a while, it’s only Christian to reach out to them. Place a call to them. Check up on them. This is the least you can do to show them the love of God. Such little acts of care open doors for us. Such little acts of care leads to blessing. It is very easy to take such acts of love and care for granted.
Don’t wait till it is late. Reach out to a friend now! Check up on them. Share the gospel with someone today, invite them to Christ, and pray for them. You are God’s ambassador on earth.
Stay blessed
Prayer points
Father, I thank you for the privilege to care for my brother. I bring my friends and family before you. I intercede that you will shine your light in their hearts, to turn them from darkness to light. Help us to turn from the world to seek things that bring glory to your name! Amen
