[Mark 1:21-28 KJV] “And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught. And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes. And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him. And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him. And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee”.
I came to exhort you to be aware of demonic operations among us. We see in our text how right in church and in the presence of the Lord demons could hide.
There are three things that oppose them:
- The truth and His doctrine
- The power of God that was present
- Paying attention to the communication or reaction from people around you.
It is important to state that there are three fundamental types of demonic operations;
- The manipulation stage
- The possession and bondage stage
- The oppression and harassment stage
When the demons gain access to a man or woman’s life, they try to;
- Steal, kill or destroy them (the man of Gadara)
- Use them to destroy leaders (Judas)
- Use them to hinder the advancement of the truth and the gospel (Elymas)
These demons gain access by merely;
1. Taking notice of you (See Genesis 6:1-4, Job 1:4-7, Mark 51-19)
2. Taking life easy and being indifferent towards demonic operations (See Luke 11:21-23)
3. Having a history of demonic possession (See Luke 11:24-25)
4. Eating and fellowshipping with demon possessed people (See 2 Corinthians 11)
5. Illicit sex (See 1 Corinthians 6)
