Galatians 3:1 KJV — O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
Can a Christian be bewitched? Yea! The fact that you get born again doesn’t mean that you begin to live the Christian life automatically. Things don’t work automatically; you have to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Being a Christian is just like being a soldier; wearing a uniform does not make you function automatically as a soldier. You must be trained and drilled to function as a soldier. Just because you carry a machine gun, doesn’t mean you are protected. You must be trained to effectively use the gun to protect yourself.
What is witchcraft? Witchcraft is a type of magical practice in which the practitioners seek to control the outcome of events and people’s lives. Witches and wizards can control even whole cities. Simon controlled Samaria; Bar-Jesus tried to control Sergius Paulus by sorcery (See Acts 8)
Every wicked Spirit has a demon that opens the doors and gives it access to lives and territory. The demons that open the doors to the spirits of witchcraft are envy and insecurities; witches and wizards seek to control and harm people because of envy and insecurities (See Luke 12:22-26). The unclean spirit in this text went to look for more wicked Spirits because he was afraid that he would be ejected again.
There are several types of witches but we will discuss a few that are applicable in this context
- A sex witch who uses the energy of sex and intimacy to generate power and control.
- A kitchen witch who uses the kitchen and elements of the kitchen to generate power and control. These are the witches that use potions on food and drink to control people
- Blood witches (voodoo and juju practitioners)
- The solo witch, doesn’t belong to a coven, they practice alone.
Witches and wizards use elements like curses, hexes, spells, potions, darts to attack and captivate their victims.
