Break Down Every Strange Altar

Judges 6:25-27 KJV — And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Take thy father’s young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it:

[26] and build an altar unto the LORD thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second bullock, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down.

[27] Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as the LORD had said unto him: and so it was, because he feared his father’s household, and the men of the city, that he could not do it by day, that he did it by night.

[Futher Reference: Judges 6]

The narrative of Judges 6 is about the call of Gideon to bring deliverance to the nations. We see clearly that before Gideon could become a deliverer of Israel, God commanded him to first deal with the altars of Baal in his father’s house. Heaven’s order was clear – before you can bring national deliverance, you must secure personal and household deliverance.

Many destinies remain delayed because strange altars – spiritual systems of opposition – still speak against them.

These altars are usually habits and routines formed over time. These could be cultural practices and societal norms that give demonic spirits the right and authority to afflict a generation.

Though they might seem quite normal and traditional; they usually become the things that empower the devils to  trouble nations. Replace them now! We can’t do the same things and expect new results!

These altars can be in families, work environments, churches, or communities – altars of fear, idolatry, envy, corruption, stagnation, or compromise. But like Gideon, we are called to throw them down and raise the altar of the Lord in their place.

These altars can be in families, work environments, churches, or communities – altars of fear, idolatry, envy, corruption, stagnation, or compromise. But like Gideon, we are called to throw them down and raise the altar of the Lord in their place.

As we step into the next season, let us deal with every strange altar! When you confront and destroy evil altars through obedience and prayer, the fire of God begins to speak for you.

Today, the Lord calls you to rise as Gideon did, to break down the altars that stand against His purpose for your life and establish His worship again upon the rock.

Prayer Points:

  1. Command the fire of God to consume every altar that speaks against my life and destiny. Lord, every altar of delay, fear, or limitation erected against my progress – let Your fire fall and consume it now! I declare freedom and advancement in every area of my life.
  2. Break every household altar resisting my family’s peace and unity. Father, as Gideon confronted the altars in his father’s house, I rise in Your name to break every generational altar resisting my family’s joy, prosperity, and divine purpose.
  3. Uproot and destroy every altar erected against my work, ministry, and fruitfulness. Lord, wherever strange powers have spoken failure, confusion, or dryness into my efforts, let those altars be overturned and consumed by the fire from heaven. I decree fruitfulness and divine favor in my labor.
  4. Silence every altar speaking against the church. Lord, every system of compromise, division, and lukewarmness raised against Your Church – let it fall! Raise again the altar of righteousness, revival, and truth in our midst.
  5. Command revival fire upon the land and community. Father, as Gideon built a new altar unto You, we raise an altar of worship and revival over our city and nation. Let righteousness and truth overthrow corruption and idolatry. Let Your kingdom come upon our streets and homes.

Prophetic Direction:

The Lord says, “Before I lift you to the next dimension, deal with the altars that resist your rise.”

  1. Today, go through your life and environment – spiritually and physically- and bring down every structure that does not honor God.
  2. Renounce every covenant, practice, or habit that strengthens those altars.
  3. Then, like Gideon, build a new altar unto the Lord – an altar of obedience, prayer, and worship.

As you do, divine authority will rest upon you, and you will see deliverance begin in your family, work, and nation.
