A barrier is an obstacle that restricts movement or access; and some of these barriers are visible but others, invisible. Most of the setbacks in life are as a result of these invisible, not so obvious barriers.
I want to discuss five barriers that must break
- Knowledge gap
- Mental barriers
- Spiritual barrier
- Attitudinal barriers
- Institutional and functional barriers
The Bible teaches that for the lack of knowledge, the people are gone into captivity. Many people have great dreams but not the knowledge to translate these dreams to working reality (See Hosea 4:6). Mostly we lack knowledge because we are rejecting the knowledge! In the last days, men will not endure sound doctrine! You have no excuse to lack knowledge in an information and digital age. I pray that we shall wake up and begin to bridge the knowledge gap. I pray that we shall love wisdom and apply knowledge.
2 Corinthians 10:3-6 teaches that the major barriers in life that the child of God must deal with are barriers in the mind; imaginations, thoughts, high things, strongholds, etc. Most of these barriers are mental, but we have weapons that are mighty through God to pull down strongholds. Most of the things limiting us are figments of our own imagination. The Bible says “a lazy man says there is a lion in the road” (See Proverbs 22:13, Proverbs 26:13). A slothful man is full of excuses. That is a major barrier. A lazy man has a ton of reasons why it can’t be done. I pray that we can engage the weapons of war to deal with these barriers in the mind.
The third type of barriers in life are spiritual barriers. Apostle Paul teaches a lot on these: in one instance, he spoke of how a great and effectual door was opened unto him but the adversaries are many (See 1 Corinthians 16:9). In another account, he spoke of how Satan hindered him from making a missionary trip (See 1 Thessalonians 2:18). I pray that you shall be inspired and quickened to arise and deal with these spiritual barriers. These barriers can only break through prayer and fasting. Such as these will not come forth except by fasting and prayer! (See Mark 9:29). We are not backing down; it’s time to decide and commit yourself to fighting until there is a breakthrough!
The next invisible barrier to deal with for prosperity and advancement is attitudinal; God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. I have a gut feeling that if we can deal with unhealthy attitudes, we can advance and go far. Pride comes before a fall and we will do well when we learn to refine our attitudes. One key thing that helped David in the house of Saul was the fact that he behaved himself wisely before Saul. The Lord will crown the humble with salvation. This is the day and the hour when we ought to refine our attitudes to breakthrough in life.
Finally, we can find freedom, discover purpose, know God, and make an impact; when we learn how to deal with institutional and functional barriers! Some of these types of barriers are not obvious but they exist. The marriage of Rachel delayed because of Laban’s institutional barrier. It has nothing to do with Leah, Rachel, or Jacob. It was just about how Laban, the man in authority thought. This is the reason why we need to pray for kings, people in authority, and for all men (See 1Timothy 2:1-8). Sometimes, your great vision and idea will never manifest because of red tapes. Before Nehemiah embarked on his adventure to build the walls of Jerusalem, he fasted and prayed for favour before the king. (See Nehemiah 1). Let us arise and commit ourselves to pray this week and see the hand of the Lord. Let us set aside this Friday to wait on God for the release of sustainable resources and tangible power for impact!
Stay blessed
