I want to touch on catching the anointing for higher performance. One of the key ingredients for high performance is the anointing.
[1 Kings 19:15-21 KJV] “And the Lord said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria: [16] And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room. [17] And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay. [18] Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.”
[19] “So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him. [20] And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee? [21] And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.”
We must all strive to catch the anointing and press on with it. The onus lies on you to strive to catch the anointing. Don’t wait to be drawn, rather, decide, arise, go after, and serve the anointed.
The truth is, leading is much easier when the following is by will and not by compulsion or necessity. I have a counsel for church leaders; don’t compel anyone to follow you; continue steadfastly in evangelism, prophecy and prayer, and branding. Dear Pastor, keep running your own race. Don’t delegate your core ministry to anyone. Don’t! They will control and manipulate you! Take charge and run with zeal.
Many of you are struggling with leading and shepherding and are left doubting your own call because you are trying to lead a people who are not following. Your calling is to preach the gospel to the nations, feed those who gather, and raise those who are faithful.
Don’t try to buy loyalty or love with money. Don’t try to impress anyone. Don’t try to prove any point. It is the devil’s trap! Leave people to decide and for themselves. When God told Elijah to go and anoint Elisha, the Bible says Elijah did what God told him and left. When Elisha said “let me go and put one or two things together and then I’ll come and follow you”, he immediately retorted “what have I done to you?”
Elisha needed to decide, arise, go after and serve the Anointed. These are the simple secrets to catch the anointing for higher performance. I pray that the Lord will anoint and bless you with His anointing.
I love you!
