[Mark 14:12-26 KJV] “And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover? [13] And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him. [14] And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? [15] And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.”
[16] “And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover. [17] And in the evening he cometh with the twelve. [18] And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me. [19] And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I? [20] And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish. [21] The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.”
[22] “And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body. [23] And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it. [24] And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many. [25] Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God. [26] And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.”
We are not living in normal times. These are very uncertain times, with news of death and the fear of more deaths. The hearts of many are troubled, yet God has not left us to ourselves. He is still our healer and baptiser. I know that He will keep us, and all things will work together to our good because we love Him and are called according to His purpose.
For many people around the world, Easter is a time of merrymaking and festivities; but for our Lord Jesus Christ and His disciples then, this particular Passover was with a lot of uncertainty and heaviness. We can draw lessons on how to celebrate Passover and easter in a time as this.
The five simple things you can do to celebrate Easter in uncertain times is to;
- Decide and prepare a place
- Make ready things that will be needed and get ready to be blessed.
- Set an alarm clock, get seated and go online ready to get blessed
- Join in the service which may start with an exhortation, singing of hymns, and prayer
- Continue the service even after we go offline.
Undoubtedly, many of our services will be online so you need to prepare to get the maximum out of them. I will be doing 12 sessions online this Easter and you can fully prepare to get blessed. If you really want to be blessed, then you must get ready for the conference, the same way you would have if you were attending in person.
1. Decide to prepare a place for the meeting:
Yes! It is true that the services are online but don’t watch them sleeping on your bed. Prepare a designated place from where you will watch and participate in the service. Set up an altar area, it may be in the dining room, kitchen, living room, garden, balcony, lobby, backyard, gym, garage, etc. You must set up a place for the service.
2. Make ready things that will be needed and get ready to be blessed.
Most online services will last about an hour or shorter. Make sure you have enough data credit to watch a full service. Don’t watch the service, join the service. Possibly, take your bath, dress up, and get your pen, note pad, Bible, and iPads or other study devices ready. You may even prepare a cup of coffee or juice to bring along. All this is to ensure that nothing disturbs your time of fellowship.
3. Set an alarm clock, get seated and go online ready to get blessed:
As I always say, it is better to be ready than to get ready. Being ready will help you to join from the start so that you won’t miss anything.
4. Join in the service which may start with an exhortation, singing of hymns, and prayer:
An online service will usually have three key segments; a word, song ministrations, and prayer.
5. Continue the service even after we go offline
Sometimes, there are so many constraints that may not allow the pastor to stay online for too long. Don’t end the service when it goes offline. Continue at home or in the office or wherever you are. The Lord and the eleven continued to the Mount of Olives to pray.
Be blessed, I love you!
