“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24 KJV)
Nothing in the Bible is so clear and succinct as this statement. The Lord Himself speaking to His disciples anywhere in the world at anytime that “if any man will come after me …”
A personal decision:
Hmmmm! Clearly, without a personal decision to come after, we will run after anything that gets our attention. A man ought to make a decision to come after Christ. I remember how in 1994, I took that decision to follow our Lord Jesus Christ. For me and at that time, it was the single most important turn around for my life. Looking back, I admit without doubt that it is the most important decision I made. All it takes for a closer and deeper walk with God is a decision. This is the decision hour; the moment in which your life begins to change.
Deny yourself:
The second step into a deeper and closer walk with God is to deny yourself. If you are so full of yourself, you will lack, the presence of God. Until you empty you of you, there will be no place for God. Your decision to walk with God will cost you some personal comfort but it pays off in the long run. I have been through my own dark moments, moments of rejection and isolation. I have faced the taunting of the world, but through it all I have seen the hand of the Lord sustain me. So welcome to the club, run your race, and don’t be discouraged.
Take up your cross:
Take up your cross and follow! Be ready to face anything that may come your way. Our lives are in His hands, in the hands of the Great I Am. His name is Jehovah. He is able to keep that which we commit to His care. Let go and let God! Follow Him as He leads with absolute resolution to face whatever may come your way.
I see you in a closer walk with Christ. You will experience deeper and better times with the I Am. Nothing will stop you. Change will come. Your transformation and profiting will appear to all. God will hold your hands and hold you up. You will see mighty manifestations of the spirit. Nothing shall by any means hurt you!
