[Acts 2:40-47 KJV] “And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
“And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.”
“And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.”
“And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”
Church growth is supernatural
Many pastors are frustrated because they have been striving hard to grow their Congregations. The truth however remains that church growth is an act of God. Only God can cause a Congregation to increase; all we can do is to create an enabling atmosphere for increase.
How did the early church increase and grow in leaps and bound?
- They gathered to pray, worship, study, and give
- They went everywhere and preached the gospel of Christ
- They baptized all those who gladly received the word
- They continued steadfastly in the apostle’s doctrine and fellowship and prayer
- They dwelt together in peace, harmony and mutual support
- They ate their bread with gladness and singleness of heart.
- They continued with one accord in the temple and from house to house
This is how they created the atmosphere for increase; and the Lord added to their number such as are being saved daily.
We can create an atmosphere for increase and growth. We can work hard to effect the beccessary changes that will lead to growth. Everyone of us have a part to play and we must play it well.
