Dealing with Giants

[1 Samuel 17:1-11 KJV] “Now the Philistines gathered together their armies to battle, and were gathered together at Shochoh, which belongeth to Judah, and pitched between Shochoh and Azekah, in Ephes-dammim. [2] And Saul and the men of Israel were gathered together, and pitched by the valley of Elah, and set the battle in array against the Philistines. [3] And the Philistines stood on a mountain on the one side, and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side: and there was a valley between them.

[4] And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span. [5] And he had an helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass. [6] And he had greaves of brass upon his legs, and a target of brass between his shoulders. [7] And the staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam; and his spear’s head weighed six hundred shekels of iron: and one bearing a shield went before him. [8] And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array? am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me. [9] If he be able to fight with me, and to kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then shall ye be our servants, and serve us.

[10] And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together. [11] When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid”.

Indeed, we know that all that the Lord requires from us as a people according to the words of the Prophet Moses in Deuteronomy 10:12-14 is for us to, “Fear him; Walk in all his ways; Love him; Serve him with all of our heart and soul; and Keep his commandments and statutes”. This is the five-fold expectation of God for us as a generation of believers who have a part in the commonwealth of Israel.

Now, as we step out to serve the Lord; to believe on His messengers, worship in spirit and in truth, fellowship with those who call on God out of a sincere heart, Reachout to the lost and forgotten, and work with our hands to earn a living and support the weak; we are bound to encounter giants. When you are faced with giants, as in the days of King Saul and Israel, what are you going to do. We want to explore the simple secrets to dealing with giants as you step out to serve the Lord with all of your heart and soul.

The Bible says that the giant came out daily and mocked Israel. Your giants will mock you until the giant killers arise from you. I prophesy the rise of giant killers in this congregation!

What are giants?

A giant is anything or person that trolls and mock you and your confession, which you can’t answer to because you lack the grace and resources.

Also, what may be giant to me, may not be a giant to you. We have different graces and resources to handle the challenges that confront us.

How do I deal with giants?

1. Build up yourself on your most holy faith:

Giant killers are people who build up themselves on their most holy faith before the day of fighting gaints. Many of us fail to kill giants because, we are caught unawares. You don’t have to wait to face a giant before you prepare. You must excerise yourself unto godliness. David, the giant killers built up himself before meeting Goliath. Himself on his most holy faith. Before he appeared on the scene, he had fought his own bears and lions. He had testimonies and experiences that positions him properly to deal with the gaint (Jude 1:16-21)

The little daily battles and victories we see, is preparing us go rthe days of giants. These trials are not meant to kill us but to build us up for tomorrow. Don’t wait for giants, live life daily. Don’t wait for a big opportunity to give off your best, take the little opportunities seriously.

2. Trust in the faithfulness of the Lord:

David became a giant killer because he had unwavering faith in God, that He is a faithful God who changes not. Hebrews 13:8, teaches that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The Lord changes not. The Lord is ever faithfulness and will not suffer your foot to be moved. David trusted absolutely in God’ability to work the same victory. Let us learn to put our trust in God, because He is not just able but also faithful.

3. Fight from the spiritual dimension first:

In dealing with giants, win the battle in the realms of the spirit before venturing into the real battle. Ephesians 6:10-12 teaches us to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might because we wrestle not against flesh and blood. Our battle is against principalities and powers.

Do you remember the Prophet Daniel, in Daniel 10, we are told that he sought the Lord for three full weeks concerning a revelation. Daniel won the battle in the dimension of the spirit. He fought for the release of the angel who was bringing his answers. Many of the things that happens in the earth are dictated by things that happen in the spirit realm.

In 1 Samuel 17:43-48, we learn how, the Philistines began to curse David with his gods. What we are fighting is far higher than what we think. There are so many things trying to curse you, but you can neutralize every curse by your confession.

Don’t allow what you see, hear, feel, taste, and smell to change your confession. Your confession and testimony is one of the key things that will work the victory. (Revelation 12:10-12)

4. Finally study the terrain, strategize, and pursue your goals with conviction:

When you are sure that it is the will of God, pursue your goals with conviction. David was a giant killer because he would use only strategies he had tried. He won the battle because he had studied the terrain and knew which battle strategies will work.

He picked up five fine stones, and carried a stick. The stick he carried was a disguise to divide the attention of the giant. David was young but a very smart soldier. While the Philistine focused on the stick, David was working on the stones.

The battle sometimes is mental before physical. We must learn to be tactical in our approach. David studied the terrain, strategies and went all out for it. Giant killers are people of great and solid convictions.

The Lord will help you and every giant will fall for your sake. Nothing will stop us as we step out to serve the Lord with gladness, stay blessed.

I love you
