Revelation 2:18-20 KJV — “And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass; [19] I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first. [20] Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols“.
[22] “Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. [23] And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.“
The spirit of Jezebel is a demonic spirit that mimics the characteristics of a powerful woman in the old testament named Jezebel. Jezebel was married to Ahab the king.
The characteristics of Jezebel
There are four main characteristics of Jezebel:
- Teaching sexual immorality: Practicing, teaching, and spreading Sexual immorality among leaders and people of authority. The spirit of Jezebel is a powerful demonic spirit that tries to teach and spread sexual immorality. We need to arise and attack this evil power that destroys churches and leaders.
- Idolatry: the second characteristic of the spirit of Jezebel is idolatry. This is a powerful demonic spirit that influences the people of God to run after idols and demonic spirits. This evil spirit mimics duality. People in church especially in leadership still continue in following and serving other gods.
- Manipulation: another key nature of the spirit of Jezebel is manipulation. When you expose your weakness, the Spirit of Jezebel uses it to manipulate your life. When this spirit gains access to the portals of the church, she begins to manipulate leaders and people in authority. This spirit will try to turn people against the pastor and destroy the church.
- Persecution: the spirit of Jezebel causes pain and persecution. Jezebel will punish you if you refuse to comply. This evil spirit persecutes any church that will not serve her.
Now, we want to deal with the spirit of Jezebel. It is well. Let us arise and resist this evil spirit, until it leaves our church. May the Lord graciously have mercy on us!
