“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen” (1 Peter 5:8-11 KJV)
Many in the church are living a defeated life because they are oblivious to the active demonic activity around them. Unfortunately, some are even entertaining this operation in them.
Unlike the early church, many of us are exonerating the devil and blaming Christians. Rightly so, the Christian is to blame, not because the devil is exonerated but because they are not waking up to the reality of massive demonic operations around them.
Both the Lord Jesus Christ and His apostles want us to wake up to the activity of demons around us and stop them. It is time to wake up and stop the works of darkness.
Many are drunk and insane, joking around things they must resist. The apostles taught us to be:
- Sober
- Vigilant
- Resist steadfastly in the faith
- Knowing also that you are not alone in the afflictions
If you do this, then in due season the Lord who has called us to eternal glory will “make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.” You may be struggling now but this is what would happen as you become sober, vigilant, resist steadfastly in the faith, being aware that there is a massive demonic activity going on around the world.
Listen, there is nowhere you can escape to. You have only one option to be sober, vigilant and resist steadfastly in the faith.
The early church was sober, vigilant, and resisted steadfastly in the faith.
When Ananias lied to the church, they knew Satan had filled his heart and they resisted him steadfastly.
When Judas spoke rudely about Jesus after Mary broke the oil; the Lord knew Satan had entered him and He resisted the devil steadfastly.
When Peter betrayed Jesus Christ, the church knew satan was in operation. He said, “Satan has sought to sift you like wheat but I have prayed for you that your faith will not fail.”
When the elders of the Jews crucified Jesus, the apostles discerned that it was the princes of age that crucified Him.
When Peter spoke in a way that he wasn’t supposed to, Jesus Christ rebuked satan, not Peter.
When apostle Paul was preaching to Sergius Paulus, the proconsul of the city, Bar Jesus, the wizards tried to use sorcery to prevent him from believing.
There are countless examples of these stories on the pages of scripture. Demons can move people to lie to you, to betray you, or even kill you. In much that same way demons can move you to lie to the church, to betray your pastor, speak rudely, act unseemly or even kill someone. We must wake up and be aware of these satanic operations so that we are not trapped.
Stay blessed; I love you!

God richly bless you bishop, for waking us up to the reality of demonic operations around us. I recieve grace from on high to be sober, vigilant and resist stedfastly in the faith to prevent the devil from trapping me!
Yes, Peter thought he had a great advice for Jesus, he was oblivious to the reality of Satan’s program to foil Jesus’s purposes. I recieve grace to be alert always in Jesus’s name… god bless you for sharing this message Pastor Simpe
