Scripture Reading
1 Peter 5:1–11 KJV
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Exhortation
The Bible tells us that you have an enemy who is roaming and roaring like a loin, seeking whom he might devour. He is out there and can work through anybody at all. He comes to steal, to kill and to destroy (John 10:10). This old foe and adversary is still busily working seeking whom he might devour and that should not be you.
A careful study of the life of our Lord Jesus Christ reveals that the devil worked through Jesus’s closest companions. The devil worked through Apostle Peter and Judas Iscariot. That is why you must be sober and vigilant.
A few of the signs that suggest that the hedge of protection around you have been compromised and the enemy have gained access to your life, your family or your work include;
- When your ground yields thorns and thistles instead of grapes and figs:
When a curse is operating in your life, thorns and thistles will grow instead grapes and figs. You make losses rather than profit. Deuteronomy 8:18 teaches us God gives us power to make wealth. The child of God must make gains and nothing should stop that.
- When you suffer great losses under bizarre and unexplainable circumstances.
The life of Job explains this. Every good and perfect gift comes from God (James 1:17). Bad and bizarre gifts are the workings of darkness. We all know how Job suffered losses, death and strange sicknesses because the devil sought to tempt him.
Jobs life was intact when the Lord’s hedge was around him. God had built a hedge around Job, his family and work. The devil only gained access when the hedge was broken. When the hedge was compromised, then came the losses, death, sickness and pain.
May the Lord build a hedge around your life, your family and your work in Jesus’ name!
- When you suffer massive accusation from friends, family, strangers and enemies alike:
The devil is the spirit of accusation that work in all accusers.
The events in the last days of the life of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the high priest Joshua in the prophecy of Zechariah points to the fact that accusations is the work of demons. And let me say at this point that every accusation is evil, whether its basis is true or false.
The only antidote to accusation is prayer and purging of the contempt. Joshua’s garments had to be changed in the prophecy of Zechariah was changed (See Zechariah 3:1-3)
- When you suffer extreme feelings of isolation, condemnation, guilt, rejection, fear or sorrow:
Carefully study the life of Jesus Christ, King Saul, and the man of Gadara:
When the Lord said His soul was sorrowful even unto death, His life was under siege. The devil had targeted Him; and Princes of the age were raging with wrath (See Luke 22:53)
We have not received the spirit of fear to be timid; but of power, of love, and of a sound mind (2Timoty 1:7)
The king Saul felt sorrowful and confused when an evil spirit attacked him (See 1 Samuel 16:13-23) It is time to refuse every continual stay of any evil power in your life.
The man of Gadara felt so lonely and rejected that he left home to go and dwelt in the cemetery (Luke 8:27) A feeling of rejection and loneliness is not from God, reject it.
- When your health comes under attack
Healing and deliverance is the bread of the children (See Mark 7:26-27) Any absence of soundness in your body is an indication that the enemy is at work near.
It is important to remind you that your liberty and safety has been fully paid for; your freedom can not be contested by anyone anymore but the devil is lawless being. This is why you the need to fight him off.
Any evil power projected against your life is rebuked now in the name of Jesus Christ! Be ready to resist every attack of darkness in the name of Jesus Christ!
Stay blessed; I love you!
