“Despise not prophesyings” (1 Thessalonians 5:20 KJV)
Listen, no matter how you feel about it and what you think about prophecy, the Bible has one admonishing for you; don’t despise prophesying. Prophesying is a spiritual thing and it is below the belt for anyone try to despise prophesying!! This is because one of the major means to edify and comfort the church is by prophesying. Allow the church to prophesy.
The Bible teàches us to “Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.” (1 Corinthians 14:1 KJV)
These are the three simple steps to prophesy. We must aspire to prophesy. There are some things we can do to prophesy;
- Follow Love
- Desire spiritual gift
- Aspire to prophesy
We know that; “For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.”
“He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. (1 Corinthians 14:2-5 KJV)
Apostle Paul admonished us to Aspire to prophesy because he that prophesies speaks unto men to;
- Edify
- Exhort
- Comfort
May the Lord help and preserve you. May you be empowered to prophesy.
Stay blessed
