1 Thessalonians 5:20 KJV — “Despise not prophesyings.”
The message for today is simple yet profound: Despise not prophesyings. Do not treat prophecies with disdain or contempt. Instead, give them the gravity and honor they deserve.
We understand that prophesying involves inspired speech, and though we know in part and prophesy in part, we must not dismiss these inspired predictions or foretellings because:
Prophecy is given for the edification of the church
The primary means by which God edifies and builds up the church is through prophecy. We cannot build strong, edified churches without the operation of prophecy.
Prophecy reveals the heart of men
Prophecy serves as a means of revelation. By the mouths of two or three witnesses, a matter is established. Allow the prophets to speak, and the rest can judge. Don’t despise any prophecy, even if it doesn’t seem true at the moment it is given. Allow God and time to reveal its significance.
Prophecy reveals the mind of God concerning the future
God does not act without revealing His plans to His servants, the prophets. Prophecy unveils the future, allowing us to prepare for it.
May the Lord continue to speak to us through prophecy! May the church never lack prophets! I pray that God will help us relate well to prophecy! May God keep and sustain you!
Stay blessed.
