Separation — Years ago, as a young chap, I understood that one person can force a horse to the riverside but ten thousand cannot force it to drink. Until, you have the desire, decision, and drive to do certain things, it is almost impossible to get you to do it.
Any man who tries to get an unwilling man or woman to serve God will be fighting a lost battle. The first and foremost requirement to serve the Lord is a desire to do so; hence the question “do you want God to use you?”. (See 1 Timothy 3:1)
In this empowerment session, we shall be exploring one of the most important criteria to meet if you want God to work with you; purging!
Separation!

“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”
“But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.”
“Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; “
“if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will”. [2 Timothy 2:19-26 KJV]
One of the fundamental criteria for God to use you is separation. The Bible teaches that a man who can purge himself from iniquity, youthful lust, and foolish and unlearned questions shall become a vessel of honour, sanctified, and certified for the master’s use; prepared for every good work.
Inasmuch as it is true that God can use anything; the truth remains that God does not use just anything at all for honourable purposes. God uses those who can by His grace separate themselves. If you want to be used of God mightily, be separated and purged.
You must be willing and ready to let go. There are things you will have to give up. Some of these things may not be sins per se, but they may not expedient. You will and must be challenged to be separated from the pleasures and standards of this world. You must be ready to give up indulgence, worldliness, and iniquity.
Stay blessed
