We have learnt that Grace is that unmerited favour of God and that divine influence that gives those who experience it an edge over others.
- Every grace is unmerited. Any favour you merit is a reward and not grace.
- Grace is an input and not an end. When you recieve grace, remember it is an input and not results. You cannot sleep on grace.
- If you are not careful, you will fall from grace
What then can we do?
1. Don’t recieve the grace in vain
[2 Corinthians 6:1-3 KJV] “We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, And in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed:”
2. Labour abundantly
[1 Corinthians 15:9-10 KJV] “For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”
3. Grow in grace
[2 Peter 3:18 KJV] “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.”
4. Beware lest you fall from grace
[Hebrews 12:14-16 KJV] “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.”
5. Don’t continue to sin so that grace will abound.
[Romans 6:1-2 KJV] “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?”
Grace is meant to augment effort and not to feed indulgence!
Stay blessed
