As I read Romans 9, I told myself the wisest thing anyone of us can do from this very moment forward is to engage God to work with us in the marketplace of life. The words of Roman 9:16 are profound. It is not by willing nor running but by the mercies of God.
“So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy” (Romans 9:16 KJV)
To engage God to work with you is to recruit divine help in your daily endeavours. It is actually asking God to be with and help you in all that you do.
God is with us; never to leave nor forsake us. He has vowed to be faithful to us even when we are unfaithful; but how can a mere mortal engage God to work with him? What are the rules of engagement? Can you actually engage God to be and work with you in the market, at the mall, in the theatre; where ever you need Him to work with you? How can you engage God?
The rule is simple; decide to live for Him. Do you really want to engage God to work with you? Are you sure you don’t want to do your time on earth alone? Then decide right now to live for God. The very day you commit yourself to live for God, He will commit himself to work with you.
God will work with any man who decides to live for Him.
Remember that it is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but God who shows mercy. You better recruit the help of God.
3 simple steps to engage God to work with you are:
-
Believe the gospel:
Believe the Bible as the only inspired writing that is profitable for admonishing, exhortation, rebuke, instruction and direction in all matters of faith that pertains to life and godliness. Admit that all your convictions and faith will be founded on the Bible from today. This is the word that created the world and sustains it (Mark 16:14–20)
-
Build up yourself on your most holy faith:
It seems important to remember that a man is actually spirit, soul, body, network and work. To build up yourself on your most holy faith, is to build your spirit, soul, body, network and work on your most holy faith. Allow your faith to determine your spiritual state: the state of your soul, body, network and work. Build up yourself; that is how you engage God. Fellowship, pray, read the bible, break bread, sing and make melodies in your heart, and confess the word of faith. (Acts 2:40-47)
-
Live a simple life:
The third secret to engage God to work with you in the market place of life is to live a simple life. Accept every day as a gift, eat your bread with joy, groom with integrity and poise, live joyfully with your spouse, and work at what your hands have found to do with all of your might. (Ecclesiastes 9:7-12)
I pray for you that the same God that went with the early church and worked with them will go with you! May God be there to defend you! May God sustain you in the times of turbulence! Be strong and press on. God will bless you.
I love you.
