Matthew 7:13–14 (KJV) — “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
Exhortation
Jesus gives a clear and urgent command: “Enter ye.” This is not a suggestion but a deliberate call to choice. Life presents two gates and two paths. The wide gate is attractive, popular, and comfortable. It requires no discipline, no surrender, and no commitment, but it leads to destruction. Many choose it simply because it is easy and crowded.
The strait gate, however, is narrow and demanding. It requires repentance, humility, obedience, and total dependence on Christ. It is called “strait” not because it is cruel, but because it is precise, there is no room for pride, compromise, or self-will. We enter this gate by faith in Jesus Christ, and we walk the narrow way by daily obedience to His Word.
Though few find this path, it is the only one that leads to life, true life, eternal life, and abundant life. Following Christ may cost us comfort, approval, and convenience, but it secures our soul and aligns us with God’s purpose. The question is not how many are walking the path, but where the path leads.
Today, examine your choices, your values, and your direction. Do not follow the crowd, follow Christ. Make the conscious decision to enter the strait gate and remain on the narrow way that leads to life.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the truth of Your Word. I choose today to enter the strait gate and walk the narrow way that leads to life. Help me to resist compromise, reject the ways of the world, and follow Jesus with wholehearted obedience. Give me grace to remain faithful, even when the path is difficult and lonely. Lead me by Your Spirit, and keep my feet on the way of life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
