[John 6:24-29 KJV] “When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus. [25] And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?”
[26] “Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled”.
[27] “Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. [28] Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? [29] Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent”.
We came in to 2019 with a desire to seek and serve the Lord. Many of us are traveling in boats and going to all lengths to seek the Lord, but many of us are seeking Him for the wrong reasons. The Lord Jesus gave a simple admonition; “labour not for meat that perishes, but for that which endures to everlasting life”. Many of us fail because we only labor for bread that perishes. We chase money, we chase food, we chase wealth, and chase anything but eternal life. The Lord, however, teaches that we should not labour for meat that perishes. This is the time and season to labour for life eternal.
Right after the Lord stated that we must labour for things eternal the people asked, “what must we do to work the works of God?” Then He answered “the work of God is to believe on he who he has sent”. We must recieve and honour the messengers of God, worship God in Spirit and in truth, fellowship with the Holy Ghost and with the brethren, reach out to the lost and vulnerable, and work to earn both a living and a giving.
These are the simple keys to serve th Lord; Believe, worship, fellowship, reachout, and work.
It is important to note that, no man on his own accord can believe, worship, fellowship, reachout, or work. We need the Holy Spirit to do these things. We need the Holy Spirit to believe, worship, fellowship, reachout, and work.
There is a voice calling out and admonitioning that you need to labour, spend your energy and strength for something more valuable than bread and meat. This is the time to arise and labour for things that are eternal. We cannot fail in our time, be blessed!
