Romans 1:1-7 KJV — “Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, (which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; and declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: “
“by whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ: to all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.“
The scriptures tell us that many are called but few are chosen. We are called to fulfill a purpose. It is important to note that this calling is a calling to go, not a calling to sit. We are called to go to the ends of the world and preach the good news; it is not a calling to warm pews. This is the time to arise and go with the gospel.
To be able to fulfill your ministry, however, certain foundations must be in place. I will, therefore, discuss some of these foundations that must be in place if you want to fulfill your ministry.
Know Your Master
You will fulfill your ministry if you know who you are answerable to. Paul knew that he was a servant of Jesus Christ. He knew who he was answerable to. He was not confused. No man can serve two masters; who is your master? If you want to serve money, serve money; if you want to serve the Lord, serve the Lord; don’t mix things up.
Know Your Calling
Apostle Paul could fulfill his ministry because he knew his calling. He knew that he was called to be an apostle. What is your calling? What are you called to? Paul was called to be an apostle.
Know What You Are Separated Unto
In fulfilling your ministry, knowing what you ought to give yourself wholly to is important. You must know what you must focus on. Apostle Paul knew that he was separated unto the gospel. He knew exactly what to focus on and did not miss the point. Don’t run when you were called to sing.
Know Your Message
His message of grace and truth that comes through Christ. Sometimes, people make it sound like it’s either grace or truth, but it is rather grace and truth. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ (John 1:17 KJV). Apostle Paul knew his message and he preached it well.
Know Your Jurisdiction
Apostle Paul knew his jurisdiction and knew he was coming to Rome. He knew he was sent to the Gentiles. He knew where to go. May the Lord reveal your jurisdiction to you. May you find your place in life!
Prayer
Father, help us to know our calling, assignment, and jurisdiction. We want to serve you with gladness and fulfill our ministry.
Amen!
