Ephesians 4:26-27 KJV — Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: [27] neither give place to the devil.
Apostle Paul is admonishing the church to be careful about opening doors for the devil to come in. I understand by this text that mostly the devil needs our permission to be able to enter in and wreck havoc. You have the power and authority to keep the devil out of your space. He can’t force himself in if you don’t allow him space. Apostle Paul exhort us to keep the devil out.
He states clearly that one way to give place to the devil is to allow your anger and resentment to linger too long than is necessary. Inasmuch as you may feel offended and angry, there are two things you should never do in your anger:
- Don’t sin in your anger
- Don’t let your anger linger for too long
The devil is seeking for an occasion to enter to wreck havoc; let’s keep him out through forgiveness and letting go of wrath. Let us commit ourselves to fighting the temptation to pay people back for the things they did against us. We will do the devil’s work for him. Let us rather learn to pray for those who despitefully use us. We will do far better when we allow time and God to handle situations.
It is important to spend time meditating on why many don’t forgive and let go? Could it be because we think we are the law givers? Could it be because we forget that to err is human? Could it be that we are unaware that everybody is battling with something, at least the sin that dwells in them? I pray that as you study this text today, you will neither sin in your anger, nor allow your anger to linger more than is necessary, nor give place to the devil. Let us shake the devil off. Let us resist him steadfastly in the faith! Let us commit ourselves to the bond of peace and honour the brotherhood!
Stay blessed
