Matthew 28:18-20 (KJV) — “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
In giving the Great Commission, Jesus did not only send His disciples on a mission, but He also gave them the greatest assurance they could ever have, His presence. He promised, “Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” This means that as we obey the call to go, teach, baptize, and disciple, we never walk alone. His presence gives us courage, strength, and peace no matter where He sends us.
- The presence of Christ is our confidence, because He goes with us wherever we go.
- His presence overcomes fear, reminding us that we are never alone in the mission.
- The promise is continuous, He is with us always, not occasionally.
- His presence is our power source for effective ministry and daily Christian living.
The call to share the gospel can sometimes seem overwhelming, but the assurance of Christ’s presence makes us bold. Step out in faith to speak, serve, or give, knowing that Jesus Himself is with you. You are not working for Him alone, you are working with Him.
