[2 Peter 3:1-13 KJV] “This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:”
“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.”
“For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.”
“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up”.
“Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
Introduction
I want to reveal to you that this present earth and heaven are passing away so quickly with everything in it. The heaven will pass away and the earth will melt with fervent heat. Nothing shall be left standing. Everything you see today and everything we are building today shall pass away. The heaven will roll away like a mat and the earth will burn with fervent heat. Nothing shall be left of this present world. Everything shall be destroyed and shall pass away.
Apostle Peter teaches clearly that this has happened before. He makes reference to the days of Noah when the earth was overflown with water. He teaches that the same things are about to happen. As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be. The earth was overflown with water then but this present world will be overwhelmed with fire and brimstone and sulfur. We have a precedent; we cannot pretend anymore. It has happened before and it will happen again.
The good news, however, is that every one of us can prepare to escape this great destruction. We can all join the great company of saints that look for the new heaven and earth that God is preparing. We can all gain access to the new city where righteousness dwells. Everyone can gain access. You can escape and I can escape. Don’t leave things to chance! Let us wake up as men who live in the day.
The simple steps to gain access to this new world that comes after this present evil world is to;
- Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ
- Be baptised and added to the church
- Continue steadfastly in the apostle doctrine, fellowship, and prayers both in the temple and from house to house praising God, giving to the poor, and eating your bread with singleness of heart
This is the day! Now is the moment! You can receive and reign! God can save you now if you are ready to step out now! Believe| Confess| and Continue!
Stay blessed
