The Lord sent me to tell you that His grace makes all the difference. If there are any three things that set men apart and place them above others, it is the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit.
[1 Corinthians 15:9-10 KJV] “For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. [10] But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me”.
I don’t know where many would be but for the grace of God. The element of grace and miracle is what takes ordinary men to heights overnight. A man who has grace, love, and fellowship with the God-head receives the utmost power to win in life. Without doubt, you are what you are by the grace of God and you will be what you will be, by grace, by love, and by fellowship with God.
Therefore, the Bible says, “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen”. [2 Corinthians 13:14 KJV]
The apostle is praying for us that the thing that brought the big difference to his life should come upon us.
It is important to remember that there is no difference between Jacob and Esau except for the grace of God that comes through his love. The Bible tells us that before any of them could do wrong or right, God said: “Jacob have I loved, Esau have I hated; hence I have given grace to Jacob.” And it emphatically states that “it is not of him that willeth nor he that runneth; but God that shows mercy”. It is the love of God that releases the grace and compassion of God.
[Romans 9:10-16 KJV] “And not only this ; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac; [11] (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) [12] It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. [13] As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. [14] What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. [15] For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. [16] So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy”.
Jacob did nothing to merit the grace and compassion of God. God just loved him and gave him grace.
Grace and favour make all the difference, but grace is given because God loves you. The Bible says, “God gave Jacob grace to rule over things and people that should have ruled him because he loved him. It is not because he did anything good or bad. It wasn’t because he was willing or running, it was simply because God loved him.
However, as I study the Bible, I have seen the following rules that can help us to receive grace;
1. You can walk in the grace when you honour spiritual things:
Don’t take the grace in vain or for granted. Esau could not walk in grace because he was a fornicator and profane. He treated spiritual things lightly. He had no respect for the birthright and other spiritual things. There are people who sit around treasure, they relate closely with greatness, or stand in a place of advantage yet it doesn’t benefit them because they treat such privileges lightly. Don’t treat any spiritual thing or person lightly.
2. Grace works by election:
Don’t do the work of the Holy Ghost. You cannot change anybody, and the truth is, nobody can change you. Some men and women are created for grace, but others for wrath. As a minister, after preaching, teaching and admonishing men, leave every man to his own fate and just pray for them. You will be frustrated if you want to save Pharoah at all costs; he was created for wrath. You can only teach and admonish with long-suffering.
3. Don’t be puffed up because of the radical grace on your life;
Don’t allow the grace on your life to make you look down on others. Don’t rebuke your boss or superior even if you think he or she is wrong. If you can, just find an intelligent way of pointing out your point of view to him or her. Moses did not speak ill of dignitaries. Anything you despise will not come to you. Don’t let the extreme grace you enjoy make you judgemental and impatient with others who don’t have the same grace. You have grace because God loves you and not because you are good.
4. Don’t let another man take your place or position, no matter how useless, little or insignificant it may appear to you:
Esau lost his birthright and ability to walk in grace because he treated spiritual things and positions of advantage lightly. Many of us spit on what God has given us for success and advantage. Judas lost his bishopric and the promise to sit on one of the twelve reserved thrones in heaven because he treated his calling lightly. The place you hold now in God may look like nothing until you have lost it. “In the last days, many shall come and say, you preached in our streets and dined in our homes but He shall say unto them, get away from me I know you not”.
5. You can walk in greater grace when you maintain fellowship with the Holy Spirit, who is the agent of grace;
The Bible says, may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us now and forever.
Grace makes all the difference but fellowshipping grows the grace. Always remember, it has been by His grace all along. Be blessed!
I love you;
