“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord , all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.” (Psalms 100:1-5 KJV)
Today I am sharing on being happy as a child of God. Every one of us can and must be glad being a child of the Lord. We should be glad that He is our God and maker and we are the sheep of his pasture. He has made us and not we ourselves. We are not self-made. None of us can rise above his or her present level except the Lord lifts us. So whether we rise or fall, we depend on the Lord. Our lord is God and the maker of both great and small. We want to serve the Lord with gladness because He alone can make us achieve anything. People may be around to help but our maker is the Lord God. We should be glad that we feed from His hand and from His treasury. We would have died from hunger if the Lord had not led us to green pastures. He is our shepherd and we are His sheep.
Why should we be glad?
Because the Lord is good: Glory to God; The Lord is good and He has been good to us.
Because His mercies last forever: Our rock is not like their rock. Even when we fail, His mercies preserve us. But for the mercies of the Lord we would have been consumed.
Because His truth endures to all generations: We are sure that any truth that worked for Abraham will work for us because it worked for Isaac and Jacob. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. There is no shifting shadows in Him.
What signs would show that we are happy to be God’s children?
- Serving others with gladness: when we call you to do anything do it with gladness. Romans 12 gives us practical steps to serve the Lord with gladness.
- Coming before His presence with singing.
- Entering His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise
- Being thankful and blessing His name.
How can we serve the Lord with gladness? How can we be happy serving? We can be happy serving the Lord if we;
- Come out from among the world and are separated unto God:
You are not ready to move to a higher level if you are not ready to leave the world behind. (Genesis 12:1-4, Psalm 1:1-3)
- Take up your cross:
Be ready to die believing God. See death as an option and a possibility. You must be ready to sacrifice your time, money, strength and even your very life.
- Become a sheep that knows and follows the voice of the shepherd:
We must learn to hear, follow and feed from God’s table. It is time to eat from the table of the Lord. We must be willing and ready to flock together with the people of God. Know the voice of your shepherd.
- Be yielded to the will and purpose of God:
Your supreme desire must be to please the Lord.

Wow… I need no other argument.
I now see why complaining and murmuring leads to destruction even for a people who were following the Prophet Moses as their leader and God Himself with them.
From today, every pride that leads to heaviness is leaving my life in Jesus’s name. I choose rather to celebrate the goodness of my God.
