Honour those to whom honour is due

Romans 13:7 KJV — Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

Today’s exhortation

To honour is to show great respect and admiration to a person, especially in public in their presence or behind them. The Bible admonishes us to honour those to whom honour is due. I want to exhort you today on the need to honour those to whom honour is due.

Let us examine 7 people, things, and situations you need to honour. You must honour them, not just because of what they can do to you but for your own conscience’s sake. A person of integrity will stay unchanged even when the circumstances change. Many people change when the circumstances of their lives change. But honouring, like loyalty, must remain unchanged and consistent; all things being equal.

1. Honour your father and your mother;

This unlocks prosperity and longevity. The Bible admonishes us to honour our fathers and mothers, so that it shall be well with us and we shall live long. If there is nothing at all that you can do for your mother and father; it is to honour them.

2. Honour the anointing;

Sometimes it’s so easy to dishonour the anointing because we carry the glory of God in earthen vessels. There may be nothing extraordinary about the anointing on the phase value but this grace can make or unmake men. When you learn to honour the anointing, it releases it. You must honour the anointing on your own life and that on others. When you honour the anointing on your own life, it will show in how you live!

3. Honour your vows and commitment to God:

The angel of the Lord doesn’t respect the vow of fools. Many people are walking under a curse today because they are not honouring and respecting their vows and commitments both to God and others. If you want to be blessed, honour your vows and commitments.

4. Honour the Lord with your substance;

Let what you do with your substance and the first fruit of your increase, honour God. When you honour the Lord with your substance and your first fruits, He will bless you.

5. Honour your body; possess your body in honour;

When you honour your body and respect yourself, you will keep your body well. Many of us are abusing our bodies because we don’t respect ourselves. We are so shameless and allow all sorts of abuses to our bodies.

6. Honour one another

The Bible recommends that we honour one another. We put others first. Let us honour one another!

Today’s Prayer

  • Pray that God will help you to give honour to whom honour is due. May we honour those in our lives that deserve honour.
  • Pray that God will release every blessing that comes with honour upon your life.
  • Pray that the Lord will break every generational curse that has taken effect in your life as a result of dishonouring a person or a commitment you made. I pray that the Lord will be gracious to you.

Amen
