Is there anything like a church on fire? Why don’t many revivals last. How can we have a church that is aglow for Jesus?
We need a church that is on fire; not a church that falls into a coma now and then, and must be revived. The Lord wants altars that always have a fire that does not go out.
[Leviticus 6:12-13 KJV] “And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings. The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.”
God wants a church that is on fire. We are the light of the world. It will only take a church on fire to ignite and illuminate a dark world. There must be fire on your altar — the altar of your heart.
The following are simple secrets to keep the church on fire;
- Redefine what it means to be on fire
- Teach the church to live as the bride and not a “slay queen”.
- Teach the church to know that although we are in the world, we are not of the world
- Raise the church to learn how to live in abundance and scarcity.
- Teach the church to learn how to live on earth while preparing for Heaven
1. Redefine what it means to be on fire:
Many revivals die out because the church has a wrong definition of what being on fire means. The truth is, being on fire is to nurture your passion for souls and to set your affection on things above. A spiritual person is one who loves God and maintains their love for God.
2. Teach the church to live as the bride and not a “slay queen”:
This is one of the major master keys to staying on fire. The church must be taught to live as the bride and not as a slay queen. We must pray as communication with a lover to strengthen our relationship with the Lord. We must study the word as a woman in love reads text messages from her lover.
3. Teach the church to know that although we are in the world, we are not of the world:
Nothing kills the fire of God than love for the world. The love of God cannot stay in a heart that loves the world. Friendship with the world is enmity with God.
We must learn to love God and not love the world nor anything in it. Love for the world and things in it snuffs the life out of the church.
I pray that the Lord will guide our hearts into love for Him. He is good and gracious. I pray that God shall keep us in his love.
4. Raise the church to learn how to live in abundance and scarcity:
We must be tutored to learn how to live in abundance and scarcity. You must learn to live in fullness and insufficiency. Don’t be covetous; don’t be anxious; don’t be righteous overmuch nor overly wicked; just live the life.
5. Teach the church to learn how to live on earth while preparing for heaven:
I believe that we can sustain the revival and awakening if we teach the church to juggle life and ministry well. It is important to understand that nothing will stop until Jesus Christ returns. People will be trading, marrying, and partying till suddenly the end comes.
It important for each of us to understand that our primary goal. Our primary goal is to reach the world with the preaching of the gospel, to teach the whole counsel of God, and to minister to needs. We will need resources to do this work and fulfill the mandate.
There is therefore the need to plan and organize well. Those who have to go to school must go to school, those who have to marry must marry, those who have to build houses must build.
I want to say that most revivals flicker out because we focus on the euphoria that comes with the revival, rather than on living the life of fire.
Many people who have sustained the fire of revival and faith for decades mastered the art of juggling life and ministry.
Considering the life of our Lord Jesus, there was one thing He did; He sat down, counted the cost, and made a choice. Many people begin the journey of faith without counting the cost.
We are preparing a church on fire. May the Lord help us to keep staying aglow.
I love you
