Everything points to the truth that modern society is drifting more and more away from God. Is it possible to hold on to your convictions in God in a godless society? Will more people give up on godliness? How can you live by faith in a world that is designed by science and sights?
[Acts 14:21-23 KJV] “And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch, Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God. And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed”.
I do not doubt that many will continue in faith to the end. This is because as iniquity abounds, grace will also abound. God will give His children the grace to make it to the end.
In this exhortation, we will be sharing practical wisdom to continue steadfastly in the faith in a polytheistic society. You will discover how to continue in the word of God. We need this truth because we are living and working in a godless, pleasure-loving, pagan society.
It is, however, so possible to continue in faith although we are surrounded by so many people who have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof. It is still possible to walk in the word. We must be guided by God’s truth because it is the master key to entering the kingdom of God.
There is no other way you or I can enter into the kingdom of God except we continue steadfastly in the word through all the changing scenes of life.
If you want to finish in faith then you must:
1. Never miss your weekly worship services:
If you are a Sunday worshipper, do not miss the “Sunday” morning service. The Bible teaches in Hebrews 10:25 that we should not forsake the assembling together of ourselves.
Every true God-lover is addicted to His presence and meetings. One of the key proofs of your love is your fellowship. You must decide to honour all church meetings.
2. Start your day early and right:
Wake up early and start your day with prayer and Bible study. Wake up early to pray. Start our days with word study.
Pray and study the word of God for yourself. Read, listen, and watch preaching messages. Honestly, these days people say all sorts of things in the name of God. (See Isaiah 50:4, Mark 1:35).
3. Sing and listen to good music:
Music, we must understand is the language of the soul. In Ephesians 5:18-21, we are admonished to speak to one another in hymns and spiritual songs. Singing and listening to good music has a way to lift your spirit and cause you to win.
4. Live with joy, modesty, and frugality:
Eat and drink with joy and a merry heart. What you eat and drink has a way of affecting your performance and for that matter your faith. Though what goes into a man does not defile him, certain things once consumed will affect what comes out of you.
Clothe and shelter with modesty and sobriety. We must be modesty in our dressing and housing. Sometimes, many people fall into much hurtful lust and pain because they clamour for things. (See 1 Timothy 2:1-10)
I must say that what you wear and where you live must show that you are both modest and security conscious.
5. Work with all of your might and be socially responsible:
Do what your hands have found to do with all your might. Those who can finish in faith work with might. You must take risks, never quit, never say never, and find a way to do what must be done. (See Ecclesiastes 9:1-14).
“The world is ruled by tired people”. Only those who work smart and work diligently win. You must strive to work hard if you are going to win and overcome.
Be socially responsible; Help when you can; but don’t expect much in return, because you may not even be appreciated.
Remember that social responsibility is an ethical framework and suggests that an individual has an obligation to work and cooperate with other individuals and organizations for the benefit of society at large.
6. End your day well:
End your day with meditation. Every man must weigh his words and actions. You will bear your own burden. The great patriarchs meditated at night before they retired to bed. In Genesis 24:63, we learn that Isaac was meditating in the field at evening time.
Be godly and content with such as you have. Be content with such as you have so that you can rest and sleep well at night. Contentment is a great secret to peace. Be content with what God has begun in you because He will finish it.
I do not doubt that with these practical tips, you can continue in faith in this polytheistic, pagan, godless society that has a form of godliness but denies the power. This is the practical wisdom to deal with both the visible and invisible constituents of the earth.
I love you!
