[Matthew 7:24-27 KJV] “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: [25] And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. [26] And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: [27] And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it”.
I want to exhort you today on how to develop deeper roots. The Bible tells us that if a man faints in the day of adversity, then his strength was small. God wants you and the things you have built to stand the test of time and test of storms. The stormy day is unavoidable for any of us. We all go through storms and we all face adversity. Life is full of challenges and life is full of storms.
The greatest wisdom is to develop roots or build on solid foundations if you want to withstand the storm. The Lord is teaching us here that we would all face our own storm and tides one day. The challenges of life may rise against what we are trying to build, but we can strengthen the things we are building before the storm comes.
How then can anyone of us develop deeper roots before the storm? What is the secret to fortifying your house against the storm? How can you protect your house? The simple secret to standing strong and firm even on a bad day is to do what you are taught on a good day. Anything you have not been doing on a good, you may not be able to do on a bad day. A wise man is one that hears the teaching of the master and does them. You develop or gain roots by obeying what you are told. You develop or gain deeper roots by obedience. When you obey what you are told, you grow deeper in those things.
You develop deeper roots when you commit yourself to obey even when no one is watching. What you practice is what gets rooted in you. I pray that each of us will develop roots through obedience. May God help you to work harder at doing what He says. That is how to get ready before the storm comes. The storm will hit one day anyway; let us get ready and prepared.
I have no doubt that the Lord will keep you and help you to stand even in an evil day!
Be blessed, I love you!
