Remember that power is the rate of doing work or expending energy. The quest to increate the power of your prayer is to a quest to make your prayer work faster and deliver results quicker.
Prayer is speaking to God, meditation is listening to God, and you wait on God to recieve from Him. This world was created by the power of God and you can draw power for favour and treasure by power. Now, since we agree that prayer is speaking to God, we must understand that there are ways to make prayer more effective.
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16 KJV)
The Bible teaches that one thing that make tremendous power available to a believer, is effectual fervent prayer.
“Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) is able to accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power]”.( James 5:16 AMP)
If you really want to increase your the power of your prayer, if you want your prayer to work fast, then your prayer must be;
1. Aligned with the will of God
Don’t ask amiss; ask according to His will.
“He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy. And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.” (Matthew 26:42-44 KJV)
2. Pray with strong crying and tears: must be fervent, earnest, and with fear!
Don’t let anyone fool you. The rate at which prayer works depends on the fervency. Your desperation matters in prayer a lot. Even Jesus prayed with supplication and strong crying to Him that is able to save Him.
“So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, To day have I begotten thee. As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever After the order of Melchisedec.”
“Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;“
“though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; and being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;” (Hebrews 5:5-9 KJV)
Prayer must be intense to carry greater power.
3. Pray with thanksgiving
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” (Philippians 4:6 KJV)
4. Pray in faith
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways”. (James 1:5-8 KJV)
5. Pray with importunity
“I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth. And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” (Luke 11:8-9 KJV)
6. Pray with all sincerity
“And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.“
“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.” (Matthew 6:5-7 KJV)
7. Pray with forgiveness and graciousness
Your prayer works faster when you pray with a gracious and a forgiving heart. When you forgive others, you acknowledge that you are also weak and frail. You demonstrate that you understand that the hustle is real.
“Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.” (1 Peter 3:7 KJV)
Notice that he used the word or adjective, “weaker”; weak, weaker, weakest!
Unforgiveness will hinder your prayer more than sin would. Just learn to forgive and be gracious!
“Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?”
“Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward. Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am.“
“If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; and if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day: and the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.” (Isaiah 58:6-11 KJV)
8. Rely on the Holy Ghost when praying
The Holy Spirit helps our weakness with groanings that cannot be uttered with words.
“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” (Romans 8:26 KJV)
God has given us the spirit of a son, by which we cry ABBA father.
“And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. (Galatians 4:6 KJV)
Amen
