I want to teach briefly on how to juggle work, home, and church. I want to draw my lessons from the life of one of the most effective apostles of Christ who accomplished 3/4 of all the New Testament; even as a lay minister.
[Acts 18:1-4 KJV] “After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth; and found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.”
“And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers. And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.“
The Bible teaches that Apostle Paul was a tentmaker, yet he did so much for the kingdom and for the Lord. We have no excuse. We can do so much for the kingdom when we draw lessons and inspirations from Apostle Paul’s life.
Look at what he taught the church in Thessalonica. He explains that he laboured and travails night and day; they ate no man’s bread for nothing. They did it to be an example to the church.
“Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.”
:For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.”
:For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.”
“But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing. And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.” (2 Thessalonians 3:6-15 KJV)
Someone asked me, how do you juggle work, home, and church? The answer is simple: simplify your life. Don’t look for too much in life. A man’s life doesn’t consist of the abundance of things he has;
- Work from Monday to Friday
- Let’s Pray Friday night,
- Reachout Saturday evening, and
- Gather for worship on Sunday.
Your family needs you, so work hard but return home as early as possible and spend time with them. If you are really busy, don’t attend any other service at church; but join is for prayer meeting on Fridays, let’s reach out on Saturdays.
Please, attend all your funerals, outdoorings, and weddings as an outreach. As a ministry to mourn with them that mourn, rejoice with them that rejoice. Stand by others when they mourn and leave when they start eating. Rejoice with them that rejoice, and leave when the party is over. There is so much to be done on Saturdays and we can’t waster all the time.
Finally, let’s find time and gather for worship on Sundays. Let’s have all our meetings on Sundays and let us serve rhe Lord with joy. There is so much to be done and nothing can be left undone.
