Daniel 1:3-8 KJV — And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king’s seed, and of the princes; [4] children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.
[5] And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king’s meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king. [6] Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:
[7] unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abed-nego. [8] But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
Life has a way of sometimes moving us around. Today you are here and tomorrow you are in another city. Your status is likely to change. Men rise and men fall. There are times when you are working in one place and at other times to move to another location. There are married people that became widows and widows that married. How then do you live a limitless life?
It is important to state that your greatest achievement is to keep faith and defend the faith. How can you stay in the faith and walk in the way till you overcome and meet the Lord. Your desire should remain that you want to meet the Lord and hear him say to you, good and faithful servant, you have been faithful to little, I will make you Lord over cities. How can you overcome in life to the end? How can you advance in your faith through the changing scenes of life?
Here are four simple things to do:
Be Christ-centered:
Standards and values change from one culture to the other; human laws change and vary. What may be seen as wrong in one culture or religion may be just ok in another. Many of us will live in many cities throughout life. Today you are here but tomorrow you may sojourn in other cities, the only way to remain unbound and limitless is to submit to an unchanging standard and values; and that is being Christ centered
Have a consistent prayer life:
This guarantees that you depend on Christ daily for strength to do all things. Those who don’t pray are proud and are likely to fail. We must be committed to a consistent prayer life. We know that prayer is the highest expression of faith and the tool to remain connected to the grace of God. Daniel had a consistent prayer life. Jesus Christ had a consistent prayer life, apostle Paul had a consistent prayer life, and all great servants and ambassadors of the kingdom had a consistent prayer life.
Take heed to your doctrine:
The world is constantly bombarding all of us with unlimited information and communication. The God of this age has an agenda to alter the thought patterns and doctrine from generation to generation until he has corrupted many; the most effective way to protect yourself is to be careful what you believe.
Be organized and focused on what you do:
Finally, learn from Daniel! Focus on your goals and be diligent in all your ways. The Bible says the hand of the diligent shall bear rule. We know that a man that is diligent in all of his ways will stand before kings and not mean men.
May the Lord bless you! May His face shine upon you! May He order your steps and help you all through the way! May grace sustain and carry you forward!
Stay blessed!
