One of the major sources of anxiety is the thoughts and cares of how to sustain life itself, find shelter and companionship, succeed at work, and be appreciated for helping others. All of us are driven by this quest. These are the basic human needs that shape our choices, perspectives, manners, and attitudes.
[Matthew 6:24-34 KJV] “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”
[25] “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?”
[26] “Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?”
[27] “Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? [28] And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:”
[29] “And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. [30] Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?”
[31] “Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? [32] (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.”
[33] “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. [34] Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
The Bible teaches that this is why many people are anxious and perpetuate all forms of wickedness, disloyalty, and greed. The Bible teaches that the world serves the demon that rules in the dark world; mammon. But you cannot serve God and mammon. If you serve mammon, you cannot serve God; and if you don’t serve mammon, he will not give you what answers all things under heaven, money. Many are, therefore, forced to abandon God to serve mammon. Many are broken and anxious about life and living; but according to the Lord Jesus Christ, the only solution to anxiety is faith.
The simple secret to beat anxiety is to seek first the sovereign will of God, and how to fulfill it by faith. The bible says if you seek the kingdom and the righteousness of God first, all these things shall be added unto you.
What are “all these things”?
The things the world is seeking after the sustenance life, shelter and companionship, succeeding at work, and being appreciated for your contribution. The word of God is saying that all these things shall be added to you when you seek first the sovereign will of God and how to fulfill it by faith.
How do you seek this kingdom and righteousness?
- By prayer
- Through Bible study and meditation
- Through music
- By teachers
- By repentance
How are these things added?
- By falling from Heaven like manna
- By planting and cultivating the land God shows you – Isaac
- By causing men to give unto your bosom – inheritance, gift, help, restitution, wealth transfer
- By discovery: you could discover treasure in a land or asset you bought
- By marriage:
Final exhortation
