[Proverbs 4:23 KJV] “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life”.
I want to exhort you on how to remain refreshed and renewed in times of crisis. The simple secret to remain refreshed and renewed is to pay attention to what you allow into your heart and what goes out of your heart. The heart will be filled with what goes in through the senses, especially the ears.
The two things you must be careful about in times of crisis is what you hear and what you say. Many people know that in times of crisis, most people can’t think clearly; they, therefore, make many funny suggestions and statements that could entrap you. What you allow into your heart and what you allow out of your heart will make a very big difference.
In times of crisis, everyone seems to have a suggestion. You must, therefore, guard what you allow in. You must guard what you listen to and feed on. In the day of Job’s crisis, many people came to speak to him. Even his wife suggested that he should curse God and die. Many of the people speaking are speaking by sentiments and not by the word. Sometimes, though the people speaking may be Christians, they speak by sentiments and not by the word.
The Bible says that “a wholesome tongue is the tree of life but perverseness thereof is a breach in the spirit“. I pray that you will not allow anybody at all to speak into your life. I pray that you will be selective about who speaks into your life. Words are powerful and if you allow the wrong words into your heart, you will believe the wrong things and behave the wrong way. Sanitize your ears and filter what you feed on. You don’t have to allow every news into your home; you must listen to only relevant things.
In times of crisis, surround yourself with people who can speak by the word of God. People who speak spirit and life into your situation. Surround yourself with people whose words can cleanse you (John 6:63)
I pray that you will neither listen nor speak things that feed your fear and not your faith. Feed on positive and relevant truth. Not every truth is relevant to your situation. In this season of the pandemic, it is needless to know how many have died in Italy or Iran, USA or UK. It is enough to know that the virus is novel, research is still ongoing to find a vaccine, and what precautionary measures to take to protect yourself. This is enough!
1 Peter 3:8-12 teaches that he that will love life and see good days must refrain his tongue from speaking guile and his lips from evil. The words you speak are forerunners into your future. Your words shape your future and determine the extent of goodness you will enjoy. I exhort you to speak wholesome words and speak life into your future. You shall live and not die. The Lord will renew your youth as the eagle’s! He will satisfy your mouth with good things, Amen!
Stay safe and stay healthy, I love you!
