[Proverbs 29:18 KJV] “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he”.
I see many young people sitting under sheds and trees idling and talking about the likes of Bill Gates; not knowing that Bill Gates did not spend his youthful years watching football matches, making sex tapes, and playing pool. He spend his time on researches, on his life’s purpose.
A typical features of youthfulness is energy and curiosity; we must therefore give our strength and energy to a purpose. The Bible says that where there is no vision, the people perish, because they cast off restraint (Proverbs 28:19)
You may inspire yourself with the stories of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and others, but what purpose or vision are you also pursuing?
How then do you know what purpose you must pursue;
1. You need exposure:
The right kind of exposure leads to the right actions and choices. Poor or bad exposure leads to poor choices. The Lord told the sluggard to go to the ant. What most lazy people need is the right exposure. That is why many people in third world countries need to travel to Europe or America before they are able to pursue anything.
[Proverbs 6:6-11 KJV] “Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: [7] Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, [8] Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. [9] How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? [10] Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: [11] So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man”.
2. Your need understanding into times and seasons:
Ecclesiastes 3 teaches that there is a time for everything. There is a time to love and a time to hate, a time to break down and a time to build up. I pray that the Lord will give you understanding into times and season to know what to do.
In the case of Israel, though they did not know what to do, they listened when the children of Issachar told them what was the right thing to do.
[1 Chronicles 12:32 KJV] “And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment”.
Sometimes, you need someone with understanding into times and seasons to tell you what to do.
3. You need the baptism of the Holy Spirit:
The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of Revelation. People who recieve the Holy Ghost also catch visions. He shows them images of possibilities.
[Joel 2:28 KJV] “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:”
4. You need to lift up your eyes:
[John 4:35 KJV] “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest”.
(See Habakkuk 2:1-4)
5. Read Biographies:
The success stories of others can inspire you to press on and reach for higher heights. As you read about others, you tend to learn about what things they did and know, and how it fits into what you are expecting.
6. Access the opportunity cost:
Many things are not black and white, they are shades of grey. Whatever options you persue has an opportunity cost. If you choose to leave, it has a cost, if you stay, it also has a cost. In 2019, access, the opportunity cost of all your choices.
Stay blessed, I love you;
