[Luke 11:24 KJV] “When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.”
Demonic possession is the term used to describe the situation in which demons or unclean spirits come to live in a man, take over that man, and begin to influence and control that man. This is the actual scenario of spirits entering and living in a man.
One of the common questions I have heard time and again is “whether spirits are real and if they are, can they possess a man?” The answer is yes, spirits are real and they can possess humans, animals, places and things.
The Bible says, “in the mouth of two or three witnesses a matter is established;” let me share with you just five persons who were possessed by demons
- In Acts 16:16ff, we learn about the damsel, that slave girl who was possessed by the spirits of divination. She was possessed, the demons were living inside her.
- In Luke 8:1-3, we learn that the Lord had cast seven spirits from inside Mary. The demons were inside and using her before Jesus Christ cast them out.
- In Mark 5, we know that the man that lived in the tombs and cut himself with stones was possessed by devils, a legion of them. When the Lord cast them out, they opted to enter into a herd of swine or pigs that were feeding nearby.
- In John 13:27, we see that Satan entered into Judas after the supper.
[John 13:27 KJV] “And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.”
It is evident that spirits and demons can possess people. Demons can enter and stay in people. The most important truth I want to share with you is the fact that when a spirit enters into a man or thing or animal or place; the person or thing assumes the nature of the spirit or demon. We can understand that from Mark 5; when the demons left the man of Gadara and entered into the pigs, they immediately began to behave like the way the man used to behave.
I just want to teach and inform you that demons are real and they can possess people. May the Lord defend you against demons! Maty you receive power to stop devils in their tracks. May you win over devils in by the name of Jesus Christ!
