We all wish we had perfect relationships that had no problems, lies, deceits, shades of grey, disappointments or hurts; but such relationships exist only in the world to come. Because we relate with men and women encased in bags of imperfection. Every relationship faces its own challenges and moments of happiness.
“Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins” (Proverbs 10:12 KJV)
Every relationship has its dark and difficult days, days full of strive and arguments. The true test of love in a relationship comes whenever there is offense, grief or hurt, especially the day when the offended has nothing to lose. There comes a time when losing your relationship with someone is no big deal; that is when the quality of your love and loyalty will be tested.
The bible speaks clearly on this: “hatred stirs up strifes, but love covers multitudes of wrong” When you truly love people, it’s easier to be pacified when you feel offended. Sometimes offences can turn love into hatred, this is how best of friends become the worst of enemies. The test of love is how you easily cover up wrongs and move on. Whenever you find out that you just can’t cover up the wrongs and move on, know that you have lost your love for this person.
Love is gracious enough to cover up wrongdoings; what you don’t know is that love grows when we cover up wrongdoings. I am not even talking about forgiveness, but just covering up the wrongdoing and continuing to love someone.
Now, I want to share with you seven simple keys to fireproof your relationships. These are seven keys to make your spouse fall in with you again and again:
- Smile a lot:
Smiling makes you look both peaceful and attractive.
- Be appreciative:
Appreciating the little things people do for you makes them feel great.
- Be confident and cultivate a sense of humour:
Be confident and not proud, confidence makes you glow, but pride makes you stink;
- Cultivate a good sense of humour:
A good sense of humour attracts favour; take jokes, crack jokes, and laugh at each other’s jokes. A merry heart does good like medicine.
- Be smart but down to earth:
Be respectful, kind, loving, and generally nice.
- Return phone calls:
Whenever you miss calls, return them immediately you find out. Then call sometimes to just check up on the other person.
- Build each other up:
Relationships are for development and not dependency.
I pray for you that these truths will watch over and guide you. God bless you and may your network cause you to advance.
I love you
