“If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15 KJV)

“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.   Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.   Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you” (John 15:12-14 KJV)

One of the popular questions which most Christian suitors ask is “how do I know my date is a ‘keeper’?” Where ‘a keeper’ here is referring to someone to be accepted as a potential spouse. To answer this question, just find a person who loves Jesus…

There are many things to look out for in a date or a suitor but one thing which is fundamental to everything is how much the person loves the Lord.

We know already that marriage is a symbol that reveals the spiritual relationship between Christ and the Church.

There is therefore no better marriage manual than a careful study of the union between Christ and the church on Earth. The ideals of this sacred relationship will teach timeless secrets to enduring marriages.

No man can love his wife with love she can enjoy unless that man loves the Lord Jesus. Now a man who loves the Lord will keep His commandments.

The following are 7 signs that show that this person you want to choose for your spouse loves the Lord;

Sign #1 – Daily Bible study:

The first sign that your date loves the Lord is that he searches out His commandments daily. Does your date read his Bible, mark out his favorite verses and even make notes? If they don’t, then they are not a keeper.  They probably need some more time to mature, because this is the first habit he or she must form.

Sign #2 – A habit of prayer

Does your date have a habit of praying? If he or she doesn’t have a habit of praying, then it is a sign that they have not prioritised prayer, which means you are heading for trouble. Prayer is the means by which we bring our burdens to the Lord, so this should be the second habit he or she ought to form.

Sign #3 – Belongs and serves in church

The third sign that your date loves the Lord is that they belong to a congregation and serve there.

Listen, you could have the biggest wedding but you will only enjoy the love of your date if he or she has learnt submission through membership and service.

Sign #4 – Submitted to authority

The fourth sign that your date loves the Lord is that they are submitted to authority set over them and abides in the love of God.

Sign #5 – Tithe

The fifth sign that your date loves the Lord is when he or she is a tither. Anybody who does not tithe is greedy, a thief and a cheat.

Sign #6 – Witness

The sixth sign that your date loves God is when he or she witnesses and shares stories of his or her missionary life. If he or she does not tell you about Jesus, they will not introduce you to their friends and family.

Sign #7 – Show their love for God

The seven sign that you love the Lord is when you are not ashamed to wipe His feet with your hair after washing them with your tears. Anybody who feels embarrassed when you are showing your love for the Lord is not a keeper.

The litmus test is when on a date with him, stop and begin witnessing to a stranger, if he feels embarrassed then he might be nice but full of devils. The same goes for the guys too.

Anybody who truly loves the Lord will never feel embarrassed when someone is talking about the person they love.

I will share the next key tomorrow.

God bless you and I love you.
