Galatians 6:1-3 KJV — Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. [2] Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. [3] For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
In every human society, giving permission for mistakes and making room for improvement leads to transformation.
What do I mean by permission for mistakes? Permission for mistakes is understanding that to err is human. This will help you to accommodate the shortcomings of people you relate with and help you not to rely too much on the promises of a man. The Bible says that the spirit may be willing but the weaknesses in the flesh, most often, will not allow us to discharge to perfection.
There is the danger of thinking that you are something you are not and that will not allow you to make room for shortfalls in the behavior and attitudes of others. The Bible teaches that when a brother or sister is overtaken by a fault, those of us who are spiritual must restore them in the spirit of humility. Mostly, when people are overtaken by a fault, we act as if we are above being tempted and that is why many of us fall into sin. When you hold yourself as though you are the giver of the law, you will fall into sin.
I have learnt to make room for improvement. I have seen people that failed woefully at one point recover and do so well later in life. We must learn to bear one another’s burden and to pray for one another. We will build more transparent and genuine societies when we learn to give permission for mistakes and make room for improvement. People will genuinely receive correction and transform, to err is human and to forgive is divine. May the Lord help us to restore our brethren who fall into sin.
Today’s Prayer
May the Lord give you the grace to restore those overtaken by a fault! May we preserve the sanctity of brotherhood and not be an army that kills their wounded!
Stay blessed
