“Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” — Matthew 6:9 (KJV)
Jesus begins the Lord’s Prayer by anchoring our hearts in relationship and reverence. God is not distant or indifferent, He is our Father, yet He is also exalted, reigning in heaven above all.
When we hallow His name, we declare that God alone is holy, worthy, and unmatched in glory. This opening line teaches us how to approach God: with confidence born of sonship and awe shaped by His majesty.
Before we ask for anything, we align our hearts to honor who He is. When God’s name is hallowed in our lives, our desires are purified, our faith is strengthened, and our prayers are lifted beyond fear into trust.
Prayer Points:
- Father, I thank You that You have called me Your child. I honor and exalt Your holy name above every other name. Thank You for Your love, authority, and faithfulness that reign from heaven and rule in my life.
- Heavenly Father, help me to truly hallow Your name in my thoughts, words, and actions. Let my life reflect Your holiness, and teach me to pray with reverence, faith, and alignment to Your will.
- In the name of Jesus, I come against every spirit of distraction, unbelief, and irreverence that seeks to weaken my prayer life. I declare that God’s name is exalted above every challenge, and no opposition shall hinder the release of answered prayers.
Amen.
