The doctrine of money is one of the misconstrued doctrine in the church. Many of the teachings on money, wealth creation and prosperity are not biblical. They are the doctrine of demons taught by ignorant and greed teachers who are destitute of the truth (See 1 Timothy 6:5)
But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
1 Timothy 6:6–8 KJV
In this exhortation we want to examine a slow but sure way to make money, create wealth, and prosper. This is as taught by the Apostle Paul to the pastor Timothy.
These are the things that accords with godliness. These are the teaching of Christ Jesus and not the thinking of the world.
We know that money is a defence and the currency for payment in exchange for goods and services; but the love of money is the roots of all evil. Apostle Paul gave a complete exposition on the doctrine of making money as a Christian. The full teaching may be found in 1 Timothy 6:1-13.
The five simple secrets to make money and not miss Heaven or miss your purpose on Earth are:
- Honour your superiors and supervisors at work if you are an employee:
This is the first secret to prosperity. You must be faithful in what belongs to another man. This is the secret to be trusted with your own. Honour your employer; serve them as though you were serving the Lord.
- Flee every quest to be rich:
The quest to be rich leads to destruction. The quest to be rich have drowned many in hurtful lust and perdition.
- Follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and meekness:
As we seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, all others things shall be added unto us. Matthew 6:33 tells us this clearly.
The Bible tells us in Job 36:11 that if we shall obey and serve the Lord, we shall spend our years in prosperity and our days in pleasure. You would spend your days in pleasure. You will spend your years in prosperity. You will prosper in Jesus’ name!
- Fight the good fight of faith:
You will go far; you will prosper and make money when you learn to live and run by faith. There are times when the situation may be difficult but with faith, you will break through.
- Work to earn a giving and not a living:
Become a Christian steward. Work for God and share your blessings with others. A liberal soul shall be made fat. (Ephesians 4:28)
