John 6:66–69 (KJV) – “Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.”
When following Jesus becomes difficult, many walk away, not always because He failed them, but because they believe they have better options.
In John 6, the crowd thinned when Jesus’ teaching became hard. Comfort-seekers left, but committed believers stayed. Jesus did not chase those who left; instead, He asked the Twelve a piercing question: “Will ye also go away?” Peter’s response reveals a deep truth, people leave only when they think there is somewhere better to go. But when you truly know who Jesus is, your options narrow. Careers may fail, people may disappoint, and systems may collapse, but Christ alone has the words of eternal life. When Jesus is not just an option but the source, walking away is no longer reasonable.
Action:
Examine your heart today. Is Jesus one choice among many, or is He your only sure foundation? Decide afresh to follow Him, not because the road is easy, but because there is nowhere else that offers true life. Stay, trust, and declare like Peter: “We believe and are sure.”
