Genesis 4:1-5 KJV — And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. [2] And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
[3] And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. [4] And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: [5] but unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
Sacrifice and offering is an art of worship and an integral part of the practice of faith. Every true worshipper of God understands the role of offering and sacrifices. The Bible teaches that to communicate and to sacrifice, we should do well.
The Bible teaches that both Cain and Abel, in the process of time went out to sacrifice. Cain brought grain from his field and Abel by faith brought the firstlings of his cow. Abel was able to offer excellent sacrifice because he did what he did by faith. By what he had heard by the word of God, he knew what to offer that will be pleasing to God.
Let us pray that God will help us to offer more excellent sacrifices each time. May we not fail! May we learn to do better every time! Your sacrifice reveals your faith; what you believe will reveal your sacrifice. Sacrifice includes but not limited to giving generously. The liberal soul shall be made fat. Your giving and willingness to endure Christian suffering is a secret to blessing and multiplication! May God help you to endure in the name of Jesus Christ!
Let us:
- Pray that the meditations of our hearts and the words of our mouth be acceptable unto God. Pray that the words of your lips shall be unto the Lord as a sweet smelling savour.
- Pray that God will guide your heart to give generously to missions and ministry, and charity. May God guide and lead your heart!
- Pray that the Lord shall have respect for your offering because you did it by faith. By faith Abel offered a perfect sacrifice!
Stay blessed!
