We shall be discussing the anointing and its characteristic dynamic. If there is one thing that transforms ordinary men into wonders and marvels of their generations, it is the anointing.
[Hebrews 11:32-34 KJV] “And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens”.

Judges 16:4 downwards
We shall be studying one of the marvelous and outstanding men of God who was made strong out of weakness. The man Samson presents us with a unique case of restoration and leaves us with the hope of being restored even if we have messed up. We will cover the following;
- What is the anointing?
- Can the anointing be lost?
- What things drain the anointing?
- How can it be restored?
1. Understanding the Anointing:
The anointing is both a process and a presence. The anointing is the process by which God and His supernatural abilities come to indwell a man. It is the supernatural or divine presence of God that gives a man the special abilities of God. The anointing comes upon a person when the Holy Spirit comes upon that man. The Bible tells us in Acts 1:8, that you shall receive power after the Holy Ghost comes upon you, and you will be transformed into a witness. So, the anointing is both a process and a presence.
2. Things that drain the anointing:
The story of Samson teaches very clear that the anointing can be lost, although the gifts and callings of God are without repentance. The story of King Saul also shows that a man can lose the anointing and still maintain or operate the gifts. That is how come a levite could be a priest at a shrine.
Four key things that drain the anointing are;
- Fellowshipping with the ungodly
- Vexation of spirit
- Break in fellowship with God
- Affliction by acquaintances
Delilah was the agent and channel that led Samson to compromise his connection with God. Delilah is anything that makes you compromise your conviction and faith in God’s word. Samson disregarded the word of God for his life because of the vexation and pressure from Delialah; and after she gained control, she cut off his hair and afflicted him. Any person or thing that troubles you emotionally, physically, or spiritually is a Delilah who wants to drain your anointing.
Steps to Restoration
1. Restored fellowship and connection:
Samson’s anointing was restored when he grew in his connection with God. The Bible said, “his hair began to grow again.” His fellowship with God was restored. His hair began to grow again.
2. Restored faith:
The Bible tells us in Hebrews 11 that by faith, strength was restored.
3. Restored prayer:
Samson prayed. He called upon God and the anointing was restored.
I pray that your anointing and any lost virtue shall be restored in the name of Jesus Christ. You shall not die as a slave of the wicked. The Lord shall restore unto you every lost virtue and opportunity in the name of Jesus Christ. You will not miss the way. You shall arise and soar and win.
I am not aware of what you have lost. I can’t tell what drained your of energy, drive, tenacity, and strength, but God is restoring grace back to you.
Be blessed; I love you!
